cage ideas

Hi im currently designing a custom enclosure but was wondering if anyone has had experience with some things in the past such as water falls and different types of substrate.

first i was going to build a small pond in the bottom of the enclosure, i was thinking i would seal the wood. then line the bottom of the pond with a showerpan liner and dry pack it the the shape i want with a mortar (i use in shower floors) i would then seal the mortar and install a small pump. run it through a tube built into a cliff up the side of the cage where it would pump out above the pond. was wondering if this would get dirty my friend had a store bought water fall in his beardie cage and they liked to poop in it.

second i was thinking about putting a heating pad built in to the top of the cliff. i would build a wooden frame with small hidden drawer that the heating pad would fit in, directly above it would be metal lath (mesh) which would be the outline of the cliff. i would then coat the lath in a mixture of mortars. i would drill small holes in the cliff side and fill it with spray foam to give it density. to finish it i would coat the whole cliff in stucco, paint it and seal it.

third I was wondering what the best type of substrate would be. i have reptile carpet right now. would like a more natural looking substrate.

also i was thinking of installing a mister and a small fan. to rise the humidity. anyone have any tips on how i would do this? was thinking i could put a computer fan on the side of it with a cover so the snake cannot get to it and a mister infront the fan but i have yet to look for one at the pet store

any tips suggestions anything helps, im a perfectionist..

You mentioned snake, but you didn't say what kind. That might help others when giving you the advice you are seeking

With waterfals you want to be able to get to everything for cleaning and filtration is very important hoses and pumps can get very dirty and harbor bacteria along with drains and what not if not properly managed you put clean water in and dirty water comes out it can be done but take the time to do it right and ther is a very good chance your ball will use it for a toilet
