Snake musk smell?

I'm thinking of getting a snake, and heard how they sometimes can "musk" you (though I hear most snakes get used to human contact quickly and stop musking). What exactly does snake musk smell like? Just curious =p.

Re: Snake musk smell?

There is no other smell like it to compare it to. It has a unique stink that smells like snake musk.

He is right..........the smell is like no other and smells awful and will stick with you for a while. I would rather get bit than get ****/musked on!!

Re: Snake musk smell?

When i was getting an adult corn used to handling after 3 years of never being touched he would musk everytime i touched him. I ended up with newspaper all over the floor and wearing full body waterproofs jsut to change the water - after handling i would go straight outside with the dirty paper and burn it and use a hose to clean the water proofs. I would still have to wash and change the clothes UNDER the waterproofs!

Imagine the worst smell ever and then imagine someone squirting it directly into the back of your nasal passage/throat with no way to get rid of it and you are somewhere near!

Re: Snake musk smell?

In all honesty though, I have gotten used to that smell.

Just like a farmer get oblivious to the manure stench I guess.

Re: Snake musk smell?

Someone should invent a scratch and sniff for each type of snake musk so you know what your getting!

Re: Snake musk smell?

Honestly, it is not as bad as say a skunk. I grew up on a farm with over 300 head of cattle, it's not as bad as THAT smell on a hot day. But it definitely does have a scent all it's own.
