A neat story
So i went to my local pet store today..to buy a new heat lamp (stupid dog) and they had a sand boa there..i had never held one before so i decided that i wanted to hold hit, as i was holding it the lady was sitting there talking to me about him. she said if you hold him long enough he will look up at you and yawn, Sure enough he does exactly that..i thought that was soo cool.. but i got to wondering could that mean something is wrong with him or could it just be his personality??
Just thought i would share this with you..and please let me know what yall think

Re: A neat story
yawning hardly warrants a vet visit.
It's not a sign of anything medically wrong.
My snakes have all yawned many times.

Re: A neat story
either way its my philosophy that a snake should go to the vet when bought just for a checkup/vitamin shot/stool sample

Your vet gives snakes vitamin shots? What kind of vitamins? Why?

Re: A neat story
Honestly if you purchase a captive bred snake from a reputable breeder, practice proper husbandry, feed only F/T prey items from reputable facilities, most snakes should never have to see a vet.
I'm curious about this vitamin shot as well???

Re: A neat story
If i was to have any issues with a snake during daytime my first point of call would be the reptile shop - they are experts and have seen pretty much anything likely to be wrong with the animal - they would help as much as they could without attending a vet. Outside of shop hours all our reps are registered with a reptile vet (if they are pre registered we have to pay a £150 registration cost before they would treat, whereas a quick phonecall to register jsut means a consultation fee + treatment cost) that has a 24 hour service.
So far, and hopefully this lasts a LONG time, we have had no reason to have any of ours see a vet.
