My Rainbow Boas
These are my Rainbow Boas, they`re a really beautiful snake this species aren`t they?! My female "Cirano" is prettybig for a Rainbow Boa, she`s eight feet long and immensley strong!

As I`ve said in my other threads I`ve just started, I`m planning to do some better pictures soon so I`ll get one of Cirano so as you can see her size a bit better. She was very nervous at first but has calmed down nicely, she`s now one of my most trusted snakes, not that you ever properly trust a snake of course....
This is Jaffa my baby male, this photo was taken quite a while ago so he`s a fair bit bigger now. I think he`s actually prettier than Cirano

Re: My Rainbow Boas
I wouldn't mind one of those myself.
And I am more of a colubrid fan.

Re: My Rainbow Boas
I forget what I paid for mine, prices where you live are likely to be quite different to UK prices though I think. They`re very secretive, my big female is always to be found in the best hide spots, the tank just looks empty, even at night, turn the light on and she`ll disappear. I`d say not for the first time owner, or indeed the general newcomer, these guys need a fairly precise regemin of humidity as well as temperatures. A damp tank quickly leads to fungus and all sorts in inexperienced hands. Sorry if I sound like I`m trying to put you off but these guys really do need someone that`s had a few years snake keeping experience. You`re right though, beautiful snakes eh ! You tend to find these guys in pet shops as babies or juveniles, you rarley see a large snake for sale, over here anyway, unless it`s wild caught which adds a few complications for the inexperienced, like worming and taming a large very bitey and powerful snake. If you have any specific questions I`m happy to help

Re: My Rainbow Boas
I`m absolutely gutted My smaller Rainbow Boa that I was growing on to breed with my huge female has died Blood poisoning by bloody mites. I spray my "wet" tanks every day, I`ve recently changed his water obviously too, and I noticed NOTHING until it`s too late. Mite numbers are moderately high, I`ve seen worse but this litle guy wasn`t a big snake. Probably too small to even treat with Front line, I would have had to treat him with soapy water if I would have caught it. You`d think you`d have to be proper negligent to have this happen wouldn`t you It`s just gotten bad enough to kill a small snake before I even picked it up. I`m really upset, he was a lovey snake, I can`t believe I won`t see him grow up and breed with my female, I`ll really miss him. R.I.P. Jaffa.....
