Piebald?
I was just wondering how you get this type of snake? Do you breed 2 different colors together and just hope that this happens? I think that they are beautiful and was just wondering.

Re: Piebald?
I dont know how to breed them out. but my breeder is doing it with what he believes is 2 100% pies. It's rediculous he sells them for like 2500 as babies and his other breeder female he just sold for 6000 at a show. the one female and one male he has now were successful in their first attempt and she is gravid. he is really happy about his payday already lol.

Re: Piebald?
Piebald is a recessive genetic mutation. Best bet to try & understand is to pick up a basic BP book or run a search online for info on genetic morphs for BPs, Mark

Re: Piebald?
Sorry for wasting time and not searching more into it first...just wasn't sure at all where to look. Found my answer though and a very detailed explanation about genetics, simply put so that even a newbie like me could understand. Not sure if there is that simple of an explanation on this forum. So to answer my own question here is what I found:
-A pied (which is recessive) needs two copies of the pied gene to be a visual pied. If a pied is paired with a normal, the resulting offspring all get ONE copy of the pied gene, so they only express themselves as a normal appearing baby, but are 100% het.
You breed 2 100% hets of the same gene to each other - in this case pied, each egg has a 25% chance of receiving a copy of the gene from both parents, resulting in a visible pied.
Will post a link to the explanation I found. I actually pretty much understand now:

Re: Piebald?
Siz if you think they're pricey now then you wouldn't have liked to been around when they were 20 thousand each.
Prices for them now are bargains!

Re: Piebald?
Just recently found out that my man's foster dad has been keeping snakes for at least 20 years now. I never knew! Oh I'm excited now!! Apparently he has a few corns and about 18 other species So now I want to go meet my in-laws...lol. Oh I wonder what he has there, and the things I could ask...I'm in dreamland now.

Re: Piebald?
Sounds pretty cool. Maybe he'll have them all seperate and tell you that they don't like each other.
Still always cool to see other's collections.

Re: Piebald?
Ok so that was weird. We haven't heard from him since last winter and all of a sudden who calls? I must be psychic So yes I annoyed him a bit. He said he has sold all of his BPs ut he also said that he has 18 different types of corns for sale, and a baby burmese. He only keeps corns and burmese right now. Seems like a weird mixture to me but I don't really know much about snakes so...I dunno. He has 3 large burms right now that he plans on breeding and has had them for years. He said any time I want to go over I can so I'm planning a visit next week He said I could even help him feed them all and "play" with the burms if I want to. SO EXCITING! I did ask him what his opinion on housing the BPs together and he said that there is no problem, just make sure they are all healthy, if one gets sick so will the others. So I didn't annoy him too much for now He offered to take me to the next show he goes to and I mentioned Piebalds to him and that I would love to get one and he said he knows people that have sold them for a load cheaper than usual. So I am going to have my first encounter with a burmese next week...wish me luck!!!!! lol

Re: Piebald?
good luck.............I can see the headlines now. Enthused snake lover now snake food to a monsterous burmese python in father-in-laws basement.
Hope he likes you cuz this could be a good way for you to disappear as an accident if he doesn't want you with his son. lol
