clutch questions

I was wondering if I breed a female albino and a normal male BP together and the clutch has 6 eggs, is there any certain number of hets or albinos I can expect from the clutch? Or is it just random?

Re: clutch questions

male het albino is 100 bucks so if u have a female albino get a male het albino and breed them. then u get all albinos

WRONG.
You'll get 50% albinos and 50% het albinos.

Re: clutch questions

True but then my poor normal whats a guy to do? No really I dont actually have a albino female I have a normal male and Im trying to decide what to buy to breed him with. Along that line what would I get with a female het albino and a normal? And is there some sort of chart that I could read or that would help me figure all this out on my own?

Re: clutch questions

Yup, type in "ball python genetics" on any search engine, should take about .2 of a second to find a good website with the information you're looking for.

Re: clutch questions

I'll be honest, normal males are completely useless in any breeding program. you need to sell your male normal for $4 and buy a breeder male rather than trying to "fit" your normal male into a breeding program that will end up giving you nothing of any real value for far too much start-up cash.

Re: clutch questions

I see your point. Ill keep the male and buy a breeding pair. Though Im looking into breeding just for the hobby, if I ever produce anything Ill be unlikely to sell them. Punnet square is what I was looking for. I found a great site that explains all of it very well. Hey if you have $6.00 plus shipping I have a really not nice normal male for sale. no really TY for the tips

Re: clutch questions

Hey, no problems, but I wholesale all my males up here in Canada for a stupidly miniscule amount of money. I can't even give them away. Literally.

Re: clutch questions

If you're doing it just for the hobby then pick up some co-dominant or dominant female that you really like and let your normal go at it.

check out this link: New England Reptile Distributors, designer Ball Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, and much more!

its pretty simple and it can help you with understanding ball python morph genetics. after you read it there are other more "advanced" pages on the site that deal with some of the different types of morph genetics.
