1. The female should be outwardly healthy and have no other health problems apparent.
2. Breeding low weight female can cause death, egg binding, or other health risks to the female.
3. The age of a female jungle that could be bred is 2.5 years of age or more.
4. Morelia spilota variegata (West Papuan Carpet Python) At least 1000 grams.
5. Morelia spilota cheynei (Jungle Carpet Python) At least 1500 grams.
6. Morelia spilota mcdowelli (Coastal Carpet Python) At least 2000 grams.
Males
1. Breeding early with males poses no threat to the male, although an infertile clutch is taxing to the female.
2. Morelia spilota variegata (West Papuan Carpet Python) At least 750 grams.
3. Morelia spilota cheynei (Jungle Carpet Python) At least 1250 grams.
4. Morelia spilota mcdowelli (Coastal Carpet Python) At least 1750 grams.
