Florida King husbandry question

Hey all,

I am new to this forum and an old time herp hobbiest but i took about 10 years off for school.

I live in the northeast us and i am going to build my new florida king a cage. hes about 9 months old. 18inches long, max 4.5-5 feet adult i believe.

i want to verify the statistics i need for his environment
1) hot spot temp range ( now 85-89 )
2) cold spot temp range (75-82)
3 humidty for this type of king.

number 3 is going to be the hardest and is the reason for making a nice new cage. his humidty changes so much with the weather here in his current glass cage.

also what are good dementions on a custom cage for a florida king if he reaches his possible max of 5feet or so considering they are not as thick as boids for example?

i was thinking of 4 x 2 style that was posted on the page for cages w/ some of my own mods.

im not interested in plastic tub cases because im going to make this thing out to be a display piece in my living room.

im open to any input
thank you

I live in Florida and sometimes cool my snake room, but not often. All my FL kings do just fine with ambient temps from 75-85F.
They also did well when I had them indoors withtemps in the mid 70'S F. Ideally you might like to have a temp gradient but the normal fluctuation of temps within this range seems just fine to me.
Of course being in Boston, you will have to have some sort of heat during the cooler periods. My snakes did well in temps that I like too. Although I really would prefer the low 70's for myself!
Anyway, there are lots of keepers and breeders in the northeast US that do little more than keep their snake rooms in the 75=85F degree range.
Remember, they are Florida kings after all.
