Our Rosey Boas

We have 3 rosey boas at work. One male and two females. When handeling the male he puffs out his throat and opens his mouth. I figured the male was just scared and puffing up to look bigger. But now he'll do it when just hanging out in his tank. he also repeatedly opens his mouth. I don't see any discolouration in this mouth, nor any mucus or runny nose and eyes.
Is this normal?
I also can't find a care sheet on these guys, does anyone have one?

No, definitely not normal. Sounds like a possible RI, as that is the most common reason for opening of the mouth. The eyes on a snake don't have tear ducts, so they wouldn't ever be runny like ours would be from a cold.

There are lots of sheets out there, but there is also a lot of outdated information on them. I've been working on a FAQ sheet for the top of this forum, like the other forums, but it isn't done yet. Basic rundown of Rosy care is as follows though:

-temperature gradient of 78-90
-low humidity (30-40%)
-water offered occassionally in a small dish that the snake cannot fit in to (I offer every few weeks)
-suitable substrates: carefresh, yesterdays news, hardwood chips/shavings, newspaper, papertowel (note they prefer to be able to burrow, so some may not be as suited for newspaper)
-suitable enclosures: well-ventilated rubbermaids, aquariums
-feed relatively small meals (smaller than their girth), as they are more susceptable to regurgitation

Yes, the puffing out of the throat is bad. You might have better luck with the search engines if you used the correct spelling of "Rosy Boa" - there are lots of care sheets out there.
Cheers.
