leopard general

Hi all, just a few questions.

What is a good price to sell leopards at?

How old do they have to be to start breeding?

How many can you have in one enclosure?

Thanks

It varies with colour, morph, age and even gender. You can find them from $10 to $3000 or more.

Males can be safely bred at 10-12 months, females should be at least 12 months, preferably 18+ and over 45 grams, though 50+ is better.

You can pack them in like sardines in a can, but they won't thrive. The accepted is 10 gallon tank for one, but they should have more room than that. The general suggestions seem to be 10 gallon tank (20 x 12 inches) MINIMUM for one gecko. 20 gallons for 2, and at least 5 gallons more for each extra gecko. That's MINIMUM. The more room, the better.

If you read the FAQ at the very top of this forum, you'll find most of the basic questions.

Blazing Blizzards are actually only around $200 US.

The more expensive geckos at the moment are the new Mack Snows, Hybinos, and Red Stripes.

Blazing blizzards are straight genetic, nothing fancy to breeding them. The big thing was getting the first one, after that, making more is easy. The price on genetic (recessive)morphs will drop dramatically every year as more generations are produced. Like albinos, blizzards, giants etc, it only takes a few generations before the market is flooded. The only way to make a 'killing' with sales is to be one of the first few breeders, after that, you're one of millions trying to sell excess offspring. Line bred/selective bred traits will hold their value longer, but even those will eventually be mass produced.

The Mack co-dom snows are selling for around $2400-2500 CDN for a male. Just a few weeks ago I saw a picture of what I'd call the epitome of leopards - a SHTBCT male with what looked like 100% carrot tail. His body was red, not just tang. The picture was on a breeder's site, but I didn't bookmark it, wasn't interested. The breeder was 'entertaining offers' for him, nothing under $2500 US... which is over $3000 CDN. If you go looking for some super examples of CT and Tang leos, and some of the newer morphs, you'll find price tags in excess of $2000 US.
