you can also do cervical dislocation. Thats where you grad it by the tail and the back of the head and kinda pull/push apart. Very quick and painless if you know what you are doing.
So untill someone shows you how to i would not try it.I have done it tons of times and i still can't do the bigger ones. I have to get my dad to do it.
Try a pillow case, often works..put the rat into the pillow case, hold the tail and wack it onto the floor or table. This way the rat doesnt have a chance at flipping around the biting you, or getting loose.
