Found this guy in my flower bed this morning. He simply refused to show his face! Anyone know what species it is? I know next to nothing about chelonians. I live in Tampa, FL, by the way.
I'd say it is a Kinosternon baurii, or possibly K. subrubrum steindachneri. But I guess Three-striped Mud (K. baurii). Where are the Kinosternon experts?
It's definately a mud it looks like my little guys. I have white throat muds. The shells are a little different that one has defined stripes. JJ is probably right. I have never seen a full grown one of that species though.
