$300 dollars is WAAAAAY too much! And they shouldn't/don't eat crickets. My advice is to avoid that store all together. It sounds like very uneducated shop.

It's a shame the animal is stuck there though.

Email me. I can hook you up with a nice, healthy Cal King. If not from me, from someone close by. cranwill@mts.net

Hey for a California Kingsnake 300 is WAY overpriced. You could purchase around 4 of them depending on markings and have them shipped to you for that price from a breeder. Why they are feeding it crickets I have no idea, because it will never eat them. He is definately not happy where he is. I would call the SPCA or something and find an alternate place to purchase one. You could get a very nice nice for that kind of money shipped to you if you look hard enough.

Check this is out, Tim is a reputable breeder and has nice stock. He frequents this site often.

thanks for the replys, i tought something didnt sound right with the price....

the pet shop ppl told me that the snake was mean and bit 2 ppl when i asked them if i could see it...when i took the snake i think it was starting to shed [cloudy eyes] anyways im the type of person that would have bought the snake just to give him a better quality of life... but 300$ is a bit too much to ask

Tim, if I decide to get a king snake, I will e-mail you!

That is alot to ask for the cal king as said above.

And if you buy the snake the petstore will be able to think it can sell there snakes, and they will bring in more, but if you don't and it dies and the other herps they get in die, they will think they cannot sell them and will quit getting in herps. Sad for the snake, but it will save more lives in the end hopefully.

Good luck!

If you breed a cal and corn together, you will get a aggressive corn, and I don't know if I am correct on this but a jungle corn?

Yes, a cal king x corn snake is called a jungle corn.

Don't breed a cal king to a corn simply b/c you don't have the opposite sex of the same species. When hybridizing breed to something, not just willy nilly.

It isn't easy breeding corn to cal king.

There is a guy in Saint John selling a proven pair of 50/50 Cal kings with their enclosure. I think he wants $150 (don't quote me on that).

If Boidkeeper sees this he may know who the guy is. I only know cause he tried to sell them to me at work.

Snake at store is overpriced (even for a petstore, $150-$200 should be max), probably improperly housed & isn't being fed. Crickets are not food, but rather just an annoyance. If it is in shed it will be more unpleasant than usual & the fact it is probably very hungry as it hasn' been fed could be why it is bitey, that & that it is in shed & probably doesn't have its husbandry needs met either. I would seriously go talk to who ever manages the store & give them a copy of a basic caresheet as they obviously don't have a clue what to do?
Oh & Kevin Jungle Corns are NOT aggressive by any means LOL the odd one has more of a CK attitude but thats it LOL & it won't be a Corn anymore it will be a Hybrid. "Jungle Corn" is a deceiving term LOL
Find yourself a local area breeder if possible is yor best bet, Mark
