Need Betadine Burn Solution
My ball python burned a small section of his tail. What betadine mixture do you use for a soaking solution. What betadine, water ratio should I use?

I'm not sure of the betadine solution because i've never used it, I find that polysporn works well for me and other people I have talked to. If you deside to use polysporn just rub iut on the burnt spot every three days or so but do not leave her water in with her while using polysporn. Sorry I couldn't help with the betadine solution. You could always phone a local vet.

I'm with Sid, I have used Polysporin successfully for burns back in the day and it worked very well. If you do decide to go our route and use Polysporin, please use the clear gel and not the white paste. Apply generously daily until the wound is scabbed and then twice a week until a shed. In my experiences, balls that are injured shed more often than healthy balls. Good luck.

I know this is not directly related to the initial question, but how did the animal burn itself? Perhaps your setup should be re-evaluated? Just something to consider in case it's something that could happen again...
Good luck and keep us posted!

Oh, and with regards to Betadine.. I have used the 10% Betadine solution on wounds with great success in the past. Do not use the "Betadine Scrub" which is a soap mixed with Betadine.. the Betadine 10% solution you can buy at the drugstore should be fine. However, I think I would probably apt for Polysporin if I'd have to treat a wound now though.

My ball python burned his tail under his heating pad. I have since moved the heating pad underneath the cage (which I know I should have done before) and switched him onto newpaper. He's blue right now so I'm hoping he looks better after a shed. Thanks everyone for your help.

Did you or WILL YOU use a thermostat or dimmer on your heat pad? This problem could have been prevented if you had...

So the heating pad was IN the cage?
