No I wouldn't call them fussy at all. They simply eat best when offered live prey.They should to be covered by a particulate substrate, and kept and fed in small dark quarters at 85-88F.
I produce several dozens of these every year, and this is how I start all of them.. In a deli container on BETA chip, about 1/2 inch deep.
