Busy!

Well, my cresties showed up yesterday (Thurs) and I tried taking a bunch of pics but not many turned out... actually only one that I really liked. It STILL doesn't show the true color either!

Quick question though, after reading the Rhac book it says that you can sometimes guess the sex, based on the small white 'spurs' and flat tip of tail you can hope for female. Is this correct?

Does this look like a potential female? or is it pointless to try and guess? Either way I am excited about these lil ones!

I'll try and get a couple more shots after I get back this weekend!

Thanks for looking, Brent

That is a NICE looking crestie!!!

I've heard 38945 different theories on sexing baby cresties, from the head shape to the little white spur things...I haven't been able to put any truth to them yet though, as any of the babies I've tried them out on haven't reached maturity yet. Maybe someone with better crestie hatchling knowledge can give a better idea.

Good luck! It's a great looking little guy for sure anyway

i dont believe this is true because my male has very large spurs but my females are so small you can barely see them. i have seen cresteds with the opposite so i dont realy think you can make a good guess judging by these spurs.

I have a male with nex to no spurs, and a female with spurs so big that they look like Frankenstein bolts sticking out her backside. Generally you can use the spurs to help narrow down males and females. I've seen so many exceptions to that rule though, I won't use it anymore.
IF yours were incubated for a particular sex (at best about 80% accurate), and IF they show the spurs in the appropriate size (compared to several of known gender), then it could help indicate the sex, but don't bet the family fortune on it.

No betting whatsoever! I was just paging through the Rhac book and there were a couple comments on that. Besides... I really just wanted to find an excuse to post a pic of one of the new guys! I'll get more up later!
