Question Giant Banded Gecko

I just got a Giant banded gecko (Cyrtodactylus Lousiadensis) and I cant find any care information on this big dude. I know that they are from New Guinea or Irian Jaya. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these guys like temperature to be kept at, humidity, what they would live in (Im guessing trees and stuff). If anyone has any info plz let me know. My email is dragonz_n_flame@hotmail.com.
Thanx.

Ummmm......the post title says giant "banded" gecko and that pic is of a "bent-toed gecko". Kina confused? Just a different common name I guess. Did you try to do any re-search before buying this animal? Did you just buy it then try to find any info? It is unwise to buy animals that you dont know anything about first.

I would try to replicate their natural habitat as closely as possible and would assum you would keep 1 individual in a 20g tall tank? Just an educated guess.

The last 2 pictures in that group plus the 2 above it (bottom right corner 4 pictures) look like my guy, except my guy is bigger.

So far I have found 4 different names for this dude; Giant Banded Gecko, Giant Bent Toed Gecko, New Guinea Banded Gecko, and Ring Tailed Gecko.

My friend got some snakes and was handed this with it so I took it off his hands. I dont go and buy animals without knowing anything about them first. I want to know more about this guy so I can give him the best replica of his natural habitat. Right now he is in a home-made screen cage 14 by 21 inches with fake plants (I dont want to put anything real and have the risk of it being poisonous to him).

How about checking up on the climate of new guinea and like I said try to best replicated that climate. Also, maybe you can email Pro-exotics and ask them how their keep theirs?

Keep him cool, much like a crested, 80's are too high generally, they need alot of humidity as well, or at least a very humid hidebox that is humid 100% of the time. Otherwise pretty much a typical gecko, insectivore with a high calcium requirement.

I had them many years ago, gex description is completly acurate, I kept them on my herp room floor around 75f, and misted them a couple times a day, I only know of 2 people that have bred them, the Gillards and Jeff Carson... It would be nice to see more people working with them as they are amazing gex!... congrats and good luck!
