Howdy folks,
I have quite an extensive background with boas, pythons and colubrids but have never housed a gtp. Today I stopped by Ben Siegel's place in Sarasota (against my better judgement) and fell in love with a little chondro. I put all the horror stories about gtps out of my head and talked at length with the folks there who actually work daily with the snakes. I told them I would consider the purchase and left. I ended up going straight to the store and buying another enclosure as well as a few tools and other items.
Ok so here we are three hours later and I have constructed what I hope will be adequate housing for the little fella (I guess I had already made up my mind when I left).
I made no provision for heating but I live in south Florida and my herp room (which doubles as my computer room, yes I'm sweating profusely right now) stays around 88 in the daytime and 80 at night.
I'm going to pick up the little bugger tomorrow. They have assured me that he is a voracious feeder and I don't doubt it considering the lump I noticed in his belly today.
Forgive the double post if you read this in another forum. Here are the pics...
