AZ Black

Took some shots today with me new camera. I recently purchased a Power Shot A60, as it was on clearance and worth the $180....IMO

This was taken as I was cleaning cages and feeding some of the residents. He is a sub-adult AZ Black (C. o. cerberus) that I caught last summer. A car in front of me swerved to hit it, or really bad at avoiding it. I was right behind, and was expecting something else in the road, perhaps some javalina or coyote. I slowed down and heard this fella buzzing on the side of the road. So he came home with me. Been a damn great snake to have, lovely snake, and my favorite AZ species...fav crote species in fact.

But, without further waiting..here he be. I will post more shots as I get them uploaded and formatted for space.

This guy ate about a week after I got him. I try to give them a bit more time, but he seemed hungry, and did not show much in the way of stress. On the other hand, many of these guys seem to be a bit timid of eatting. They are not hard to switch to a full-out rodents diet. This snake has been a very awesome captive. Eats, easy mannered and gorgeous!

If I had a lack of brains, I could say with a lot of honestly, could handle this fella without anything but my hands, he is that mellow. Of course, not gonna happen.

That is cool. I always wonder about getting them to eat. You must be doing something right for him to calm down like that! CONGRATS!

Last year I found 4 live Cerberus and roughly 15 DOR. Most were small males like this guy, but some were large adults. I found 2 males, and the smaller of the two was jet black. I love these guys. To cool.

I would love it to find a nice female this year. I could use a pair.
