a 20 gallon glass and baby beardie??

hey everyone i am looking into buying a bearded dragon and i am building it a huge screen enclosure but until that is finished would it be okay to keep it in a 10 or 20 gallon ??? it would only be for a very short period of time but my petshop just sells the pets to anyone and i dont want our college students to buy them cause all they do is party and they would never get taken care of besides that i think it would be another reptile i would enjoy taking care of...i have plenty of lighting sytems to use if they can have the same basking bulbs as my veiled?

Hey.....it would be ok considering the Beardie is under a foot I would think..and if you have the correct UVB lighting for the 20...and the 10? I dont know if they even sell UVB that small.

But an adult enclosure would have to be about 55.....I say just buy it and the UVB much easier.

Um if the beardie is under a foot like burm said than a 20 would be fine the only time that I have housed a beardie in a ten is the first one that I owned (I hate to admit it but it was an impulse buy) but without proper husbandry a beardies even as hardy as it is would get stressed out and could die.

I would say PLEASE DO NOT BUY A 3-4" BEARDIE they are extremly fragile and pet stores usually do not have healthy babies.

I am going to add this as well:

Quote:

If you plan on buying a bearded for a future pet, instead of purchasing it now, GIVE IT TIME!. Please do some more research, it seems as if you are going to need it. Also, I would recommend getting everything up and running before the purchase of ANY animal is made. You want to know if everything is working correctly before you add life to it. This is the MOST IMPORTANT part of starting the deal. Do not move until you get a home...get the picture? I do not want to seem as an a$$, but it seriuosly seems as though you are acting to fast on your desire. Would be great for you to take your time, research, then build your cage...add your lights and what not...then buy the dragon.

Good Luck, and do take the time to get things right.
