A while back I bought my false map turtle, Bowser, a feeder guppy. He chased it one and then never bothered with it again. I figured I would just leave it in his tank and he would eventually get eaten. No dice. About a week later I was cleaning out the tank, and there was the fish. So I let him live with the turtle. They didn't bother each other or anything, and I have fish flakes I can give him, so why not.
Well, I came home the other day and had a look in my tank, and there were a whole bunch of tiny little feeder guppies. Turns out that Bowser's fishy friend is now a mommy. I guess I got some new pets now. When they get a bit bigger, they will go into a fish aquarium I have set up.
we always buy our mapping paint turtles a dozen or more fish at a time and they normally eat them in 24 hours but this dozen there are three left and they have been there about 3 days i hope we dont have baby feeder goldfish, but turtles are smart maybe your turtle didnt eat the fishy because it was becoming a mommy and didnt want to kill the babies only adults...lol
