It's my parent's 57th anniversary today, so....
... I bought myself a snake to celebrate Aren't I just such a kind and considerate daughter?
He's a male albino het L. ruthveni, about 18 months old. When I saw him at Global Exotics yesterday, I foolishly asked to hold him. He was alert, active, wrapped himself around my arm as if to hold me and not let me go, and kept crawling up my coat sleeve, not wanting to come back out. It had to be a hint that he wanted to go home with me, but I didn't get him then since I plan to get a pair of L. t. annulata in the summer. The wait for them is so long, and this guy was just begging to go home with me so he wouldn't have to start the new year with a 'for sale' sign over his head, so I couldn't even sleep last night, kept seeing him when I closed my eyes. First thing this morning I headed out and bought him.
At least now the wait for the annulata won't be so unbearable.
This is perfectly normal behaviour for a herp addict, isn't it?
I'd hoped to post pictures, but he's in his hide box right now. I'll let him settle in a bit before I bother him for a photo session.

Congrats on the new one - can hardly wait to see the photos! Big mistake - holding them - I can never give up on getting one once I have picked it up!
I love the idea of getting yourself a snake for your parent's anniversary - I am going to use that idea - definately!

I got these pictures of him when I made an adjustment to his hide box. He came out to see what was going on, and posed for a couple of pictures.

Nice snake, and I love the heartfelt sentiment! Almost brings tears to my eyes.... Tell your parents to hang in there..after all, you gotta get him a mate. Isn't the 58th the "albino" anniversary?lol!

Yup, I do believe I recall reading that in the Herpers' Book of Excuses and Reasons.
And if we're both mistaken about the 58th anniversary, both my daughters and one nephew are January babies... .. I'll have lots of reasons to celebrate herper style next month.
