Thumbs up New GTP pics...full spectrum lighting rocks!

If you're interested in taking pics that show a Chondro's true colors, you may consider using full spectrum light. The one I used for these was a $6 full spectrum flourescent bulb from Wal-Mart...no need for the $25 pet store bulbs.

Anyway, hope you like.

Here's one of my Lemon Tree babies...see the green?

Very nice

Wow!, those are some mighty fine looking photos for both color and clarity. What kind of camera to you have?

Is that Lemon youngster one of Dave Polur's Lemon by Arus? I bet a bunch of those end up nice. Please do share how yours comes out as time goes by.

I picked up a few full spectrum bulbs at a light bulb shop for 10 bucks the other day, but 6 bucks. For photos your bulb looks every bit as good as a 25 dollar vitalight.

Greg,

Thank you. The camera is a modest 2.1 Megapixel...Fuji Finepix 2800. Fuji cameras have excellent optics and usually a much stronger zoom than comparatively priced cameras. I'm going to be upgrading to the Fuji S5000 next month, which will be my third Fuji. For the money, I think they're the best buy out there.

I am really happy with that bulb, so I'll probably end up using them to light all of my cages eventually. I know Vitalite bulbs are supposed to be nice, but I think a lot of bulbs in the pet trade are grossly overpriced. It's just like the Cypress mulch they sell as reptile substrate...you get one third of a bag of mulch for four times the price.

Indeed, the Lemon Tree is from David Polur. It's from his Lemon x Aru II pairing, which I think has the best chance of producing a high yellow animal along with a fair amount of blue, which is ultimately what I am after. I actually got two from that clutch, so hopefully one of them will turn out like that. I'll definitely keep everyone updated on how they turn out.

A Fuji. Very nice! I may need to get one of those to play with.

What brand is the bulb you got from Wal-Mart. I'll need to try those out too.
