?? About babies

My babies hatched about a month and a half ago and right now i keep them in a little critter keeper with no substrate cause im worried that they might eat it. I would like to set them up better but i don't want to do something to harm them. How does everyone else set there babies up and how long before i should put them in a tank with substrate? any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
