Cool Fire arms?

Please no flamers

What does it take to get a fire arm? And i know the laws are nothing like united states i've heard.

I dont want a firearm so i can look cool. Guns have been an interest long before any hobby. As a kid watching rambo movies and Swarzinager(sp?) movies got me into it. As i grew up, i've had dozens of BBs and pellet guns. from plastic to the repticas.

anyone here have an interest in them? As of next year i'll be getting a Colt 1911. not as pricy as many snakes but still has fun.

You will require a F.A.C. (Firearms Aquistion Certificate) & in order to get one nowadays you need a course & of course a full background check on yourself done by the government. A registration certificate will also be required for the firearm itself & every other one you own ever. I should also point out that your personal information will be entered into an "unsecure" database by the government, even though it directly violates all 8 "points" to your "Right to Privacy" that is part of your basic human rights as a Canadian & has cost up to 2 Billion taxpayers dollars & still isn't fuctioning properly (& it never will). Option #2 is to obtain & keep it "illegally" as 9/10 Canadian gunowners do anyway. I don't recomend doing so, but would fully support it. I'm still waiting for "them" to hunt me down, as I refuse to conform to unjust laws that violate my human rights as per our constitution. For those of you who miss the point, its not about guns, its about violations of personal rights & freedoms. Funny how the Govt. can even pass a law that violates our constitutional rights, imagine that, isn't the constitution what every single law we have is based on orginally. Damn Liberals! Mark I.

Just a couple of points

Canada doesn't have a constitution, we have the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

But I totally agree that the gun registration act was and is a total waste of time and money, the whole point was to reduce the use of firearms in the commisson of crimes. But what criminal is going to register his guns? *rolls eyes*

Handguns of any sort require special permits to possess in your home and getting a carry permit is next to impossible outside of law enforcement.

So to answer Solid Snake's question:

It totally depends on what specific firearm you're talking about. If you want to keep a handgun in your residence I would say don't even bother trying. If it's a shotgun or hunting rifle then yes, all you'll need is an FAC and to register the gun.

O.k - veering this post away from politics, to conform with the T.O.S....

The FAC course is easy. Sheila and I both took it, because we did not act fast enough when the law came around.

I would suggest taking the course. It is a very good course, even for people who have owned and used guns for years.

From the course, you will get a certificate, that will let you go into a gun store and buy a gun. If you want a handgun, you need to take a bit more complicated course, write an easy test, and get that certificate. More rules go with keeping the gun, than would a rifle or a shotgun.

Rambo type guns are all illegal in Canada. There is no course I know of that allows people to keep those guns. There are people that have permits for those "prohibited weapons" - but they owned them before the first laws - no new permits are being issued, and they can't take them out of their house.

Any specific questions you may have regarding getting into gus, and doing so legally - you can emaili me at thesnakepeople@sasktel.net .

If you aren't worried about law, email

My bad... Sorry.

Considering the opinions I expressed on the other thread about politics and religion being taboo topics I should definately know better.

I agree the FAC course is easy. But i'm going to just shut up about the rest of it now... Hope we answered your question Solid Snake!

The whole registration to eliminate gun violance may not be perfect but it does help with crimes of passion.

here's an interesting bit of trivia, ontario has over 7 million guns registered. That's alot of guns considering there's some where in the neighbourhood of 10 million people in ontario.

Wasn't that figure from Bowling for Colubine? I thought it was 30+ million people in Canada, 10 million families in that, and 7 million guns. Not sure though. lol.

here in the us it is ilegal to own a fire arm if you have any fellonys and to legally own a hang gun it take a hand gun saftey permit wich you can get at most fireing ranges but other than that really nothing you can buy a rifle or shot gun if you have a valid social and DL and some stores do small back ground crimnal checks

I wish I could get a free gun by just opening a bank account. LOL I didn't see the movie "Bowling for" but I saw a few parts. I wonder if they give you free ammo if you keep a minimum balance in your account also? heh heh In reguards to our "Charter of Rights & Freedoms" I don't care what they officially call it if it can be violated freely by the Govt. (us Gun guys seem to think we're Americans sometimes when it comes to "terms" LOL). In reguards to the whole "Columbine thing" the Calgary Sun has this for a headline today "School Rampage Plot Unveiled, Court hears of plan to kill dozens" Some loser in Brooks, AB was caught with a loaded submachinegun & search of his residence turned up plans/drawings of the school with details including ammo required for the desired "body count". The little pyscho had planned on offing 100-150 students during Remembrance Day Ceremonies & had figured on doing 3-8 cops also, before doing himself. Get this, he was only convicted of some weapons offences etc. Concealed weapon, possession of a loaded prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited device & possession of stolen property. Here's the best part the sentence. 18 months & 12 months probation after. They aren't even forcing him into counselling. I guess his repeated ramblings to friends of wanting to kill Blacks, Chinese & sexually assault women went unnoticed in court? Oh & he's no longer allowed to possess firearms legally (like he cares if they are or not) & he will be barred from going near schools. This well adjusted individual was definately put into his place because of the new & existing laws, NOT. Justice hardly. We can only hope he does his time in general population where maybe he may get what he has coming. Unfortunately a twisted little ____ like him will probably get some kind of special treatment though & be released early on good behaviour. No wonder I opt not to read the paper on most mornings. Pretty disgruntling eh. Twisted little scumbags don't care what the laws are & even when caught the law is hardly effective to deter them. I don't think there will ever be a full solution unfortunately, but what they are trying to do with the new gun act is definitely not it. Sad ain't it. Mark

Have no desire to ever in a million years own a firearm of any sort, but would totally love to learn how to work some of the assault rifles out there o> Hehehe... most I've ever played with are air rifles and co2 pistols when I was a kid.

Yeah we had incidence out this way this year as well. In the neighbouring town not 2 minutes from me, apparently a group of kids organized a school massacre/suicide for Halloween. They arrested a whole bunch of kids, but since so many more were implicated in letters they found, they closed all the high schools in that town, as well as mine, as a precaution. They arrested a bunch more after Halloween. Crazy business.

If you want a .45 go with a Para Ordinance or a Sig. They are both excellent guns.
