bacteria on shed?

Hey folks,

My daughter has show and tell in her kindergarten class coming up, and might want to take a shed from our snake. I know snakes can carry salmonella and other nasty things, but I was wondering if these bacteria are present in sheded skins. If so, can they be disinfected without ruining them?

I don't know... but I know people display snake skins all the time. So there is probably a way.
