Massive canebrake
Check out the size of this cane. Bear in mind when you look at this, I am 6’2”. We haven’t put the tape to her yet, but this snake is very close to 6’.

Awww...poor Gregg. Count yourself lucky. I wish I could find 'em period. Northern Indiana herping sucks. Thankfully, it wont be long until I move to Cincinnati, where at least I wont have to drive for 2+ hours to find a copperhead.

Bloody nice! I have a bit of an interest in cane's since my very first bite came from one, turned out though it was one of the nicely neurotoxic populations though.... that sucked. The first symptoms were really trippy, it was like someone flipped a switch in my brain. I felt fine but I couldn't see any colour except for shades of yellow. No red, green, blue. Only yellow. That was rather 'unsettling'. A couple minutes later I got funky metallic taste in my mouth, like I was chewing on aluminium flavored gum. Things went down hill rapidly from there.
Cheers
B
PS as a parenthetical aside, you guys have heard of the recent study that showed that there is basically zero diff genetically between canes and timbers.... basically, its all Crotalus horridus now and all are just clinal variants. Doesn't change that from being an awesome snake though ;-)

huh? I must need more coffee, I don't get it.
That is a pretty Cane. Looks like lower AL or southwestern GA stock. Although i would have the hook on the snake. I have seen/had too many Crots come back on themselves in a flash. I am always amazed how quickly a huge fat diamondback can launch across its own body.

Bah, it will always be Canebrake to me
