Clear this stuff up:)

Hello all.......I know I have a horrible reputation around here and I dont want people to hate me cause I like you all very much, and it is my fault completely. I made some horrible decisions in the herp world and some I greatly regret. But after thinking about it all I realized my mistakes and I will never do it again. I confess to impulse buying.....but know I realize that is the single WORST thing any herper can do and I stress not to too everyone I know. I was in the pet store the other day and simply fell in love with a crcoodile gecko. I sat and thought for awhile and realized i know SQUAT about this animal and not only would be problems for me........but I would be disrespecting this animal if i made the purchase and it would be totally unfair to him. I realize I own a burm and have to go through college. Well I am never giving him up and while I'm in college I arranged for a friend of mine who owns many burmese, retics, and boas to hold him he was excited to accept(he loves Zeus). I also understand that once you purchase an animal you take FULL responsibilty thanks to many on here.

I think that about covers it. I hope people will appreciate this thread

If anyone hates you because you impulsed bought a herp, they need to get a life Iam sure 99.9% of the people on this site have done that at LEAST once, and not all of them are as young as you are......... but as far as you go with finding yourself taking a more mature approach with your herps, and how you care for them, good for you! and good luck to you...

i remember a while ago that huge post that was closed down about ur iguana and grass lizard or something. I also believe that almost everyone on this site has made the same mistake..i know i have once..but you learn from your mistakes and its very good that you admit to your mistakes.

I think thats how most people get into herps, impulse buys. I know that's how I got into it.

Don't sweat it. I'm sure no one hear hates you. I'm guilty of an impulse buy or two myself. You learn from it. I'm glad your burm will be well taken care of.

snakemann87, I don't recall any of your posts, but it sounds like you have a very good, responsible outlook now. Keep it up and spread the word :-)

To this day most herps I buy are an impulse buy.. Even when it comes to crocodilians.. Though I plan on owning all one day so I don't think that counts.. I personally like seeing posts with people disagreeing with one another. Still reminds me some people still do their own things and not pressured into doing things that are favored by another and not yourself. Im not sure excatly why you were banned, though.

I learned A LOT after I bought my ball python. I wouldn't call her an impulse buy, but I certainly don't think I really knew what I was getting into. But isn't that part of owning pet? Besides the enjoyment from them, you learn more about them, and learn what to do and what not to do.

Good luck at college snakemann. I had a blast at college.

well, i think we can all understand the impulse buy. i decided to buy a ball python after meeting my first one on a friday, and on saturday, without doing much research, I bought EVERYTHING i needed except for the snake (the snake came about 50 hours of research later).

But anyway, that's how most herps are bought, methinks. thanks for the message, tho.

I went to Sheridan College in Toronto, then transfered to St. Clair College in Windsor for my last year. As far as vet schools go, I only know of two, and both are in Canada. First is the University of Guelph in Guelph Ontario, second in the Ridgetown School of Agriculture. I hear they have a good vet tech program there.
