I have noticed the traditional mite in the eye of my burm, so i treated her for mites but the ones in the eye dont seem to want to get out. I was soaking her in water and i got one with a cotton swab but the others dont want to come out. I am pretty sure there dead and the only ones on her. Its an albino so its easy to see. Anyone have any tricks of getting them out. She is going to shed maybe that will help?
One good thing is "NIX" in a 1 for 9 of water portion. Spray the snake the enclosure (be sure to remove the water boll) let it dry and put back the boll.
You can do this for 3 days then rice all . But some time one day is enough so you get less stress on the snake. If it's a ticks, bigger than the mites you can remove it with a small pincer they are some time hard to pull off, it will not fall on shed and most of the time it will give you a bad shed on the eyes (where you got it).
Don't worry if you have treated the burm, and the mites are dead, those in the eye come off with shed. There's no sense stressing the snake out trying to get them out, or with repeated treatments. When she sheds, they will come off with the old skin and she'll be good as new. I have never seen mites in the eye not come off with shed. Good Luck.
