Is the small one from the same clutch of Red Flame/Midnight Wraith's as Greg's? If so, I think the two of you should be calling the breeder for a refund or exchange.

I have voiced my opinion as I know of 8 of these babies that are not growing. Her reply was basically that she talked to people who bought them in Medicine Hat, and their only problem was that they ate too much. I don't know if I don't believe her or not, but with 6-8 dragons from people that I know that bought them, thats pretty bad. At least in my opinion. I sent her another e-mail 2 days ago and still have not got a reply.

Greg,
I think she's playing you. You should post who the breeder is so everyone knows not to ever buy anything from her. It seems obvious that she has inferior stock which is behind this Dwarfism. She should stand by her product even if this was a freak occurrence.
I have had two problems with animals that I have purchased and both times the breeder/seller bent over backwards to make things right.
Good Luck.

I don't really want to say too much as the people I have talked to just are saying that they aren't growing, but not that they want their money back or anything. I have a problem, and I don't think Mike is happy either, but i'm not sure what to do and as I said no one said much other than they aren't growing. I got mine back from the vet today, and they said it made a 100% improvement from when I brought him in. He was 4 grams when I brought him in (pretty sad for an almost 3 month old beardy) and 6 grams when I picked him up today. I am still worried. Hopefully he starts gaining weight to a close to normal size.
Greg

That is one dark dragon and he is VERY small for his age! I don't know what to tell you to do about the breeder except keep bothering her until she fesses up, lol. I wouldn't believe anything she says and please post her name or PM it to anyone who wants to know, so we will know NOT to buy from her! Good luck with your dragons! Happy Herping!

Can you really blame this on the breeder? Be careful in realizing that not all developmental problems begin when the mom and dad mate. It may be due to some freak incubating conditions that were uncontrollable and only happened on one side of the incubator....Embryo development is a very delicate matter and not at all under a human's strick controls!!!
I would still pester for a refund or some sort of compensation if these were ment to be more than simple pets, but I wouldn't be giving the breeder a bad name over it.

choriona - whether it happened due to the parents, or during incubation, it is still the breeder's fault. Either she breeds inferior beardies, or she does not incubate properly.
If it happened to one, maybe two babies, then sure, stuff happens. But to 8 known babies? That's pushing it - something is wrong there.
Hopefully she will end up sticking by her animals - they may be healthy, but they are obviously not breedable stock.

As far as I know...that thermometer is pretty accurate. I have a few of them and they all seem fairly good. I also use digital indoor/outdoor probe type thermometers for my main temp measurements.
As far as the breeder goes...I'm not happy with the growth of my little beardie and at least I know that it's not my husbandry due to the others that are not growing (and my other one that is). I have not had any further contact with the breeder and do not wish to start dragging the name through the mud...things may yet work out. Greg has sent E-mail to her on behalf of those of us who he know that have the stunted babies. I'm sure him will give us an update very soon.

Well I do have another update, but its not a good one. I came home last night with a high protein forcefeeding diet for the baby. It definitely looked a lot better than when I brought him in, but didn't morve much when I picked him up. I cleaned out his cage when I got home, put him in close to the heat, and hoped for the best. He didn't move at all last night, and I found him in the bottom of the cage this morning, with sunken eyes, and stiff. RIP little Sheamus.
I hope no one else who has these babies have the same problem. It makes it even worse than I spend $160.00 that i couldn't afford on a to put it bluntly, a dying cause. I wish I would have taken him in sooner and all of this could have been avoided.
Greg West
ps. I will update this post if I get a response, or if I don't. For now I am not going to post who this breeder is out of respect. I would not doubt that people may have healthy babies out of this clutch, but with 6-8 that are not growing at the rate that others are, in my opinion is not a good thing. She did say in a previous email that the mother was a smaller dragon, but that she saw no problems with breeding them.
As I said I will update if I hear anything in this matter.
Greg
RIP Seamus

That's Horrible Greg! I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope that the breeder does something about all these beardies and, I REALLY hope that they don't ALL die. Sorry Again Greg
RIP Seamus

Hi Greg,
Sorry to hear the news. After some thinking I remembered who you bought that BD from but I will leave it to you to open that can of worms. I am sure she could replace the BD, after all it's not like she's replacing an Albino BP. If I sold a baby Leo and it died in such a mysterious way I would definitely offer a replacement. Heck if she doesn't replace it I'll give you a baby Leo, that is if you want one. Let me know how things turn out.

Thanks for the offer Ron,
The only thing that I am thinking is I am not sure if I want a replacement. I would rather my money back as I would not want to have the same problem, but we will see what she says if and when she replies.
Greg

Hey Greg,
My offer doesn't expire, just say the word and you can come pick one up.
I think you should ask for a replacement from a different clutch or a refund. If she doesn't respond in a timely manner you should post her name without any guilt.
Ron
