Bearded Dragon

I have a Bearded Dragon that is about a year old. He is 18 inches long and has not had a cage mate since he was brought home from the pet store a year ago. I am thinking about getting another Bearded. Would like to know the best way to put a new Bearded Dragon in the cage with one that is already established. Do not want to have to separate two Dragons or have one get seriously injured. I have heard that they can do serious damage to each other.

If its a male, its not a good idea to put another dragon with him. 2 males will most likely get into fights. If you put a female in there, she can get stressed due to the fact the male wants to mate all the time. Thats just my thoughts about it. Better to wait till the more advanced bearded keepers get here

Hi there, personally I wouldn't highly recommend having 2 dragons in the same cage. If you have 2 males then they will most likely fight. if you have a male and female then the male will want to mate all the time and stress the other out (then you have eggs to deal with).
I don't know about having 2 females together but I would only try it if you have a REALLY big cage so they can have their own space and if separating them wouldnt be a problem (and you're there a lot to supervise).
You wouldn't want to have 2 dragons fighting in the same cage and not have another cage and lights to put one in in case they don't get along. That would be my concern, if it doesn't work what to do with the second dragon?
I only have one dragon for this reason as space is not something I have a lot of.
Maybe someone with 2 or more dragons can give you their experience with it.......

If you have a male and would like to get a female, you better plan on them mating! However, if you DO get a female, she MUST be over 18 months old... if she breeds before then it will reduce her lifespan greatly.
If you want to house two females together, make sure the cage is big enough first of all(75 gallons or larger) and that they each have a basking spot.
To introduce two dragons, you should never just simply put the new dragon in the cage. I would suggest introducing them on non-common ground... such as the floor or bath tub. This way, neither one has established any kind of dominance of the particular area. You must always be willing to intercept any kind of ''misbehaving'' though. If you are introducing a male to female, you should expect some head-bobbing or waving to happen, but if they start biting and attacking each other, seperate them immediatly. You must introduce them like this several times, and if they get along, THEN you can try housing them together. Good luck and let us all know what you decide to do!

Thanks for the input. I am thinking this is not such a good idea. I have mine in a tank that is about five feet long and a foot and a half wide. I am not home enough to properly supervise a new arrival. Would hate to have one of them get seriously injured or even killed. Think I will just stick with the one Bearded Dragon. Thanks for all the advise.
