Caterpillar's Defense

I just had a nine year old SCREAMING in my ear because I heard she had been killing every caterpillar she found. Her only excuse being, "THEY KILL TREES!"...a very LOUD excuse.

No matter what I said, about the fact that they turn into pretty butterflies and moths, about how they eat the LEAVES and leaves fall off the trees in autumn anyways. I also talked about what gives HER the right to choose what lives and what dies. I talked about why she's being biased with caterpillars, because lots of insects eat leaves. Nothing seemed to work, she just kept yelling that her mom told her that they kill trees and her mom has never lied to her before...

This is my ex boyfriend's sister, and just between us...his mother isn't always the best informed on alot of things. (No matter how many times I told his family that my Children's Python won't get any bigger, she said she has SEEN Children's Pythons with pictures of dead humans in them)

Ugh, so now I'm frustrated and this little 9 year old wants a full research report on how they are harmless. Have I missed any points?
