It varies even with a baby. They do no have striking colours when they are born, they are very very dark compared to adults. I suggest buying the Corn Snake Manual by Bill and Kathy Love because it has a lot of useful information and also has a picture of a hatchling okeetee beside a yearling from the same parents. It's a good book!
i have an okeete. i dont know if this answers your question but baby okeetes are realy dark and dull but *** they shed there skin get to a beutiful bright red!

do you remember how many sheds it takes to get the nice colors. i just got a neonate and it sure is dull. hes a firecracker too. bit me 6 times (aint they cute). pics will be up soon.
They grow into it. There is a great example of this in the Corn Snake manual. There is a pic of two brothers that are a year a part and it is like night and day. I got two from Mike Vince back in December, they are Love line and they get better with every shed.
Cheers,
Trevor
