Excitment level at egg time
I was wondering if you are more excited knowing you are hatching something either very valuble/"rare"/interesting or if you get that same feeling no matter whats in the egg?
I am like DYING with anticipation for my female snow to lay. Her pre-lay shed was days ago, and she is fat fat fat. And I find myself literally crazy with this wait, and I am only hatching some typical snow babies!!! LOL....I can't imagine how I would feel if striped butters were about to come out, or even some crazy pythons or something. I am hoping the feeling is the same for good 'ole normal corns as it is for everything else. I mean, an egg is an egg....right?
How about you guys?

Can't wait me either! It's a very wonderful feeling. I would felt better if any of the collapsed eggs were saved

Whatever is in the incubator, you can always find me lying on the floor with my nose pressed to the window. I'm such a herp geek! Every hatching is exciting, even if it's parents who've had a gazillion offspring that all look just like them.

Yeah thats how I am feeling....I know exactly whats coming out of any eggs that may be laid but the nervousness and waiting is just ridiculous. hahaha I can't imagine if I did have an albino ball python about to lay or something like that. I keep peeking on her twice per day the past days since the pre-lay shed and I can barely stop myself from planting a chair in front of her cage and just waiting HAHA

I am currently waiting for a bunch of leo eggs to hatch and when I come home from work the first thing I do is check to see if I have any early-birds. There's almost no better feeling than knowing you've done something as amazing as breeding reptiles. I usually check before going to work (and sometimes when I wake up at night too). I'm obsessed I suppose.

Everything you are feeling goes away after breeding a couple hundred snakes........ You still get that feeling that you did something great........ That never goes away....... But all that excitement, like waiting for X-mass morning when you were a kid, does not last........

Let's put it this way. I've been sleeping crappy and have dark rings under my eyes waiting for my kings to lay. That with waking in the middle of the night to check on them. Plus my lil girl "Pearl" who I grew up is gonna be a mom!

Hee hee, glad I've never yet bred snakes. I still feel that way about frogs and lizards nearly 20 years later.

The feeling goes away? Bah! Three years and I'm still a kid in a candy store, no less excited now than when my first eggs hatch. If I ever get to the point where I am less happy, shoot me!

lol!
I hear ya, and I don't think the feeling will ever go away. It's just so beautiful to see eggs hatch.
I dream about it, too. Really.
