I can't comment on the price but as far as temperament ours are not shy - they spend very little time in their hide boxes (only a day or so after a full feed and when they are blue) and are usually out on top of the hide box or on a branch.
Though they are not shy, ours are definately not keen on being handled. They are more nervous than our Irian Jayas, are very active, search for higher ground when they are held, and they tend to do a 'huffing' complaint until they are returned to where they feel most secure.
They had a tendency to be nippy as youngsters, but we use a hook to let them know we are going to be picking them up and they don't bite. They just really seem to prefer not to be held - like their skin is sensitive. They really resent being restrained - hate having their body held still - they are more tolerant if they are allowed to cruise where they want to.
They are gorgeous snakes though. This is our young female. Good luck in making a decision.
