Cool period

How long does this usually last for Bearded dragons?
and also.....is this when the lights are out and all they do is sleep?

Brumation lasts anywhere from not at all to 6 months. Since we cannot replicate natural conditions indoors it's a very iffy thing. Some sleep deeply, others lie around with eyes open and occasionally move around or eat, but refuse to bask.

Two of mine brumated this winter with their lights still on, one for 1.5 months and one for nearly 4. I turned off the lights on the guy who went down for the deep sleep but left them on the full 6 weeks for the female who was just in a light brumation.

If your beardie is brumating you should wake him up every week or two to give him water.
