Is there a proper way to position a probe for a thermostat after a UTH has already been installed on the bottom of a tank? I wouldn't want to try and lift it up to slide the probe underneath. Perhaps I could position it next to the UTH?
I'd prefer to not have to buy a whole new tank because I did not install the thermostat probe before sticking the UTH to the bottom.
The probe really needs to be between. You may be able to get away with putting it under but you will need to monitor surface temps of the UTH for a solid week to see if your thermostat controls the temps properly with that placement location.
If you do need to peel the UTH off then it can be reinstalled using the UL listed HVAC silver tape.
