What kind of snake is this?

Hello all. I don't know anything about snakes, but I have an unexpected visitor in my garden today, and thought this would be a good place to ask - what kind of snake is this?

The poor fellow got himself caught in the netting for one of my raised beds. Just wanted to know if I should be worried he's venomous while cutting him free.
