Burm life span?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am wondering if anyone really knows how long burms live in captivity and how they change as they get older. I'm asking because Kashmir is 25 now and I've read that they live about 20 years. The main thing I've noticed is that it's getting harder to feed him. Since he was about 5, he would stop eating from roughly Nov-March. From what I've read, this is normal for a male burm. For the last few years, his non-eating period has started earlier and finished later. The shorter feeding period makes it feel like we're not getting enough food into him during the year. Add in the times that he won't eat because he's about ready to shed, and this year there were a couple of unexplained times he didn't eat, and it seems like he's barely eaten since his first 2018 feeding (May). He didn't eat last night and will stop again for the season pretty soon. Is this how an old snake goes out - he just doesn't eat enough to keep himself going?

Re: Burm life span?

Congrats on raising such a mature animal. Do you have a pic of your critter? I hope he continues to thrive in your care.

Re: Burm life span?

I don't have a pic that will upload. I'll take another one and try again when I get some time. Still hoping there's someone out there who's outlived a burm and can tell me something about how long they actually live/what to expect in his sunset years.
