My Super Salmon Jungle Boa

So I can't find any information specific to what I'm looking for. I have a few questions if anyone would be able to answer

I have a 2 year old (as says in title) that I got from a owner who didn't have space for him in his apartment. He has a 13 foot long anaconda that takes up to much space.
Being breeding season, my male, Alek, is all affectionate now (yeah I know what that means when I'm holding him lol). Now, since I don't have a female, the poor dudes going to have to wait it out.
What I'm wondering is if I should leave him be, handling him minimally, or if I should handle him more, have him out of his cage more often. Not sure what temperaments are normal for this type of snake, being as he's my first I've had other than Ball's.
If anyone could give me some information about what I should do/shouldn't do with him in his time of lack of action, it would be appreciated!
