Lily Update

So she got a lot worse until she started to look better. We all said she was starting to look like a rescue animal instead of one of my animals. Busted up scales, tore up her belly scales fighting to get away while we did her mouth, swollen mouth, and damaged head. Finally tonight she shed away those scales and is looking much better. Her mouth almost closes again! Only a few damaged scales that will take at least one more shed to go away but otherwise she almost looks like herself again.

Taken after we did her mouth and shot tonight so the bubbles are from the mouth washing. Took her to the shelter vet since I was very unhappy with the local one. Sarah did great with her like she always does with all the animals we bring her. Lily had to see her a second time to do a debridement since some of the pus had latched on good to her tooth and parts of her mouth in the one spot. Took two seconds. She initially thought we would have to put her under but apparently pictures were worse than the reality. I literally dropped her off and left then got the call a minute later to turn around since they could do it while she was awake. She is on a different antibiotic that requires one shot every 3 days. This one leaves no marks and you can't even tell where I gave her the shot after a day. So I'm much happier now that she looks much better and responding just fine to this treatment!

My BEL took some scales off of the top of his head just after I got him and after a couple of sheds he was back to normal.
She is a beautiful snake, just wish I could get a BCI in those colour's. Glad she's making good progress

Hope Lilly makes a full recovery soon. I'm happy she's doing much better with the new vet and treatments.

I know I just did an update but last night the last infected tooth fell out while I was cleaning her mouth. Everything looks healthy again. The vet said she shouldn't need to come in again just to keep her updated on how her mouth finishes healing and if she doesn't eat once off the antibiotics. She will stay on them until the sores close up. She's so close to being all better

Definitely a gnarly mouth, it's unfortunate the slow healing process of reptiles, but everything sounds promising.

Now hopefully she's broken her habit so this doesn't happen again.

It's from her dumping her water after pooping and then pushing through it all and against the glass cutting her mouth. The culture showed the bacteria was from fecal contamination or something along those lines wish I could remember what it was specifically called. Would have to dig around and find the paperwork.

So far she isn't pushing anymore after being transferred to the big cage.

Damn that's scary, one of my retics pushes a little now and then and I'm already paranoid! ( he got more than plenty space, he pushes when he smells food but it's not his turn) Hope she'll be back 100 % soon. Poor Lily.

Yeah she wouldn't push all the time in the smaller one mostly when she dumped water or pooped. I'm just happy that seems she's tired of it or the new cage is different enough maybe she doesn't think she can escape.

This side is the one that didn't look bad in the beginning until it opened more and realized how deep it went. The other side is almost completely sealed up and the bottom is almost there too. This side was definitely the worst spot in the end. Probably another month of healing at least!

The good news for her was that she was perfectly healthy before she got the infection in the mouth so its been easier for her to undergo the ordeal. And this was still caught early enough that it hadn't added an RI into the mix. My biggest fight has been keeping her hydrated seems like coming out at least once a day dries her out, plus the fighting and antibiotics don't help I'm sure.
