Question Finding the right snake

Hey, I was wondering if yall could help me out. I am building an enclosure that is 2x4x7.5, and am wanting to put a snake in it. I would like a good beginner-intermediate snake. I love the ball pythons and like the corn snakes. Although I know the ball pythons are not real good climbers and might injure themselves if they do climb. I also love the blood pythons as well. I would really like something that is on the thicker larger side of a snake and is a great climber, as the enclosure is rather tall. Any help is great! Thank you!

Re: Finding the right snake

A rat snake would make good use of that enclosure. Some neat ones that get pretty big are Russian rat snake, beauty rat snake, or black rat snake. Other than that I would probably look into a boa or carpet python.

Re: Finding the right snake

Fair size enclosure to house a beauty snake. They grow to a large size for colubrids, and are quite active. So are the Russian rat snakes, but those are harder to come by in general. A carpet python would also be a good fit. My Dominican mountain boas are also semi-arboreal, but more slender than my carpet pythons, rather similar to my everglades rat snake. You might want to take into account the temperature requirements and heating options for whatever you choose. Taller enclosures are harder to heat, even with RHP's, so it would be easier to maintain a species that doesn't need it too warm. or at least would be content with a warm basking area.
