Officially introducing Ono
Hey
So as you know I joined the club and picked a little baby carpet a few months ago. I've left her largely alone to settle. She has been eating well. I've only handled her a few times when I caught her out in the open. Other then once when she was in shed (didn't notice until after she looked a bit faded) she was an attack machine attacking everything real or not. Other two times she is just very flighty but zero aggression. Took a few pictures. Sorry they are a bit blurry trying one handed with your cell phone to keep a worm that won't stay still in focus is a bit hard. She did stop long enough for one nice shot. Here she is. She is developing black borders to her rust brown areas already. She is 25% jungle - 25% diamond - 25% bredli - 12.5% Iran jaya - 12.5% coastal jag x Iran jaya.

That's from the breeder, I'm not smart enough to figure out the blood and percentage

Re: Officially introducing Ono
@ ziggy I am still waiting for her to be more visible but I'm happy with her.
I'll update this thread as she grows. Hopefully I'll be able to get clearer pictures.

Re: Officially introducing Ono
Been awhile since I updated on her. So she is eating well and is now confident enough to be more visible. Over the past 2 weeks I catch her out a lot more. Curled up in the open even during the day or laid out. Very happy with her change to be more like a carpet but I figured being so young it was normal to hide. I haven't handled her as much as I should to calm her down. She is very flighty but not aggersive at all. She had one aggresive day early on but it was due to being in shed, she bit me, a cork round, a leaf and herself. Anything was a target. At the time she looked faded but I hadn't had her long enough to be sure. Few days later I could tell it was definitely shed cycle now I know what to look for. Since then she just tries to escape. She finally calmed down in my hands tonight enough to get a weight 98g and snapped a few pics despite her moving and the crappy camera on my phone. She is losing the white on her sides and is replaced with a tanish gold colour. She is so damn pretty.

Re: Officially introducing Ono
She's a beauty Blaze! Are you feeding her mice or rats?

Re: Officially introducing Ono
The color changes as they grow are phenomenal. The little red IJ hatchling I brought home is now brown and creamy caramel, with a much calmer disposition. Yours sounds quite like her a few months back as far as flighty when handled, but she was calm the last time I actually took her out of her tank. Curled around my wrist and wanted to explore upwards, pretty much the same as the Dominicans and the larger/older jungle carpet.
Yours does have a great pattern, I'm almost jealous. Might actually be when she's grown out and her colors are developed, lol.
My IJ won't take a rat for anything, when I offered her a live fuzzy hoping to switch her from mice she struck it but wouldn't have anything to do with it otherwise. Is your pretty girl taking mice or rats?

Re: Officially introducing Ono
Thanks guys, her rust brown as a hatching has turned brown now. I wasn't sure how much influence the Bredli blood would impact her. She was hatched in May so she has a lot of changes to go.
She is eating a rotation of mice, rats and day old quail. Right now just mice fuzzies and rat pinks to exhaust my supply and then she will be upsized. They are a bit small for her but I'll be feeding her every 5 days until I get bigger prey and switch to 7 days.
