My wife and I are looking at buying a house. We had the home inspection today and the home inspector saw this snake in the crawlspace. I'm not sure if it's a ratsnake or a copperhead but it's terrifying my wife! Please help me identify this snake! Thanks!!!
It is a juvenile Rat Snake (Pantherophis sp.), it is harmless. These are great snakes to have around, they eat a lot of rodents. With a location we could determine the species.
