Anyone with experience?

Does anyone on here have any experience in what it takes to own a reticulated python in Massachusetts? I've read multiple, conflicting things and I'm quite confused 🙃

Re: Anyone with experience?

It's not just the laws you need to consider when owning any of the giant snakes. You also have to realistically consider the husbandry requirements. You will need a VERY large enclosure to properly house an adult Retic. In the neighborhood of 12x12, climate controlled and access to a qualified person to assist you anytime you work with the animal. While retics and Burms are really cool animals, their husbandry and safe handling requirements are every bit as big as they are. Not something to be taken lightly. Just a thought...

Re: Anyone with experience?

There's a few threads on the giants near the top of the giants forum that would be all worth reading to give you a thorough insight into keeping these snakes.

Apologies if you already have but as Jim says ownership is not to be entered into lightly...

While I agree with most of what you said, the cage size mentioned is completely wrong. There are many different sizes of retic and even the largest retic would be comfortable in a cage half that size

Re: Anyone with experience?

I was thinking more of a Dwarf/SD combo, around 10ft or so, not an absolute giant

Re: Anyone with experience?

Just a thought mate but have you tried contacting the local authorities and see what they say
