Hi I am new to forum. I live in Central Texas. This beautiful snake outside my office window yesterday. This is definitely a copperhead pit viper I assume.... I hope to learn more about snakes on this forun

Welcome to the forum! Yep! You would be right that is a copperhead ( Agistrodon contortrix l.)Hope he is not up in the tree trying to escape all that rain you guys are having there.

He probably is, it has been very wet, and sultry steaming humid in the day. I wasn't sure if copperheads are supposed to climb trees. I wouldn't have notice him probably if he wasn't sunning there.

I do think they are beautiful animals.

I don't have any reptiles myself, but I live in the hill country with lots of wild creatures around

My wife and I love taking the kids up to the Hill Country. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. That's a good looking Copperhead you saw. Great picture.
