Welcome to the forum! Yep! You would be right that is a copperhead ( Agistrodon contortrix l.)Hope he is not up in the tree trying to escape all that rain you guys are having there.
He probably is, it has been very wet, and sultry steaming humid in the day. I wasn't sure if copperheads are supposed to climb trees. I wouldn't have notice him probably if he wasn't sunning there.
My wife and I love taking the kids up to the Hill Country. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. That's a good looking Copperhead you saw. Great picture.
