my first reptile babies ever!!!

You can´t imagine how happy i´m.

Remember that i house 1.3 ciliatus in a huge rainforest setting and its almost impossible to find any eggs.

So yesterday evening i came home from lifting training, went into my room to pick someting up and while i did so i suddenly saw a baby peeking out of the window.

I catched him out and was looking for the 2nd and was lucky. He just came out of the ground.

Its incredible. The temperatures were way below what i would consider enough for them to hatch. I keep them at room temperature and its pretty much now like at the north caledonian winter. At night temperatures dropped as low as 17°C.

The babies are massive and have already eaten some stuff.

But look:

Today i will make them a small enclosure.

I´m still so happy

Congratulations!!! Obviously you have them living in a near perfect environment for them to breed and reproduce without any interventions from you. Nicely done!

Re: my first reptile babies ever!!!

I had issues with weight gain with repashy. I now use pangea. Honeatly, adults shouldn't need food every 2 days unless you are putting it in at night and removing it the next day. I leave mine in there for 3-4 days and offer fresh at that time. Babies get fresh food every 2-3 days. But I also leave the food in there with them, only removing it if mold grows on it. Also, for babies, I tend to mox a bit of organic fruit baby food. (This is a mixture, NOT pure). The sugar stimulates a better feeding response than repashy/pangea alone.

Don't forget to offer babies protine once a week as well to promote proper muscle growth. Wax worms, crickets, roaches, and even meal worms are all acceptable choices, just be careful with the mealies since their hight chitten content can lead to constipation or blockages, so feed those sparingly.
