Re: Adult Hypo Tangerine Honduran?

Yeah, hondos don't really change much. Their neck kind of disappears, so that their body just kind of tapers away down to the snout rather than the well-defined head that babies have. The colour doesn't change much, but the oranges might seem less fluorescent on an adult. Still very bright, though. I've seen quite a few, though I don't have pictures. Looking at babies gives you a really good idea of what they will look like as adults.

The only exception would be morphs that have white banding on them(so not the hypo tangerine), as the whites tend to become yellow over time.

Re: Adult Hypo Tangerine Honduran?

Thanks for the info! Anything else you can throw in there about them please do
This is helping me make up my mind on the one I'm going to go check out this week end lol. I like talking to folks who actually own something and give me personal experience with a particular animal. I know they can be different in their own way but still it helps.

Re: Adult Hypo Tangerine Honduran?

Only other thing I can add is that theyre quite active but thrive in solitude. Mine really dosent like being handled much. But shes beautiful and I love watching her explore her enclosure.

I feel the same way about new additions and am hoping for some feedback on the angry blood python I'm bringing home tonight.

Re: Adult Hypo Tangerine Honduran?

I really like ours, we have one male 2012 hatch "Hypo Tangerine." I know very little about their morphs and find them a little confusing, since I've seen a number called that that look just like ours and then I've seen others that were also called Hypo Tangerines and look really different from ours.

He was a little flighty as a baby but has pretty much completely outgrown that, has never musked or struck or even looked like he was going to strike. Very nice temperament!

Here is some older outdoor pictures of him, he's probably about 2 years old in these.

And then some newer indoor ones from about 8 months or so ago.

I'd say he has gotten a bit of an over wash of melanin but not bad, he's still pretty bright.

This is a baby picture.

Re: Adult Hypo Tangerine Honduran?

"Hypomelanistic" doesn't describe an exact appearance. It means the animal has fewer melanophores, or produces less melanin(black pigment) than a typical animal. In the case of these Hondurans, that could mean having very pale almost white stripes rather than black, but it could also mean having just slightly less of a dark overcast than a normal type, which makes the oranges more vivid. The term "hypomelanistic" includes everything within that spectrum.

Gorgeous snake, by the way!
