BRB spending most time in water bowl - advice needed

For the past week, our Brazilian rainbow boa female has been constantly soaking in the water bowl. She rarely comes out of the water, which gets me worried. She is about 1 year old, doesn't have mites, eats well. Cold and warm areas in her enclosure. Any advice, please?

How do you know she doesn't have mites?

We're talking about a BRB and I haven't seen the question about humidity levels. I don't have experience with them (yet), but from my understanding the humidity should be pretty high for them. So...

What's the humidity at in their enclosure?

What was your snakes behavior before it was in the water bowl… like how are it's sheds? And yes, what are your range of temps and humidity?

Soaking with no mites generally is too hot or not humid enough

Could be getting ready to shed, my larger Dominicans and the carpet python like to soak for a week or so prior to shedding. The humidity in their enclosures is quite high enough all the time.

Trying to reply to all questions. Humidity and temp are fine. I didn't change anything in the enclosure, it's been the same for months. She shed about a week ago and she had a perfect shed. Whole skin came of in one piece. She is eating well. No mites. I looked her up.
Sorry I can't provide you with exact temp/humidity right now, but I am not home to take a reading, I'll try to do it after work.

Just because your temps and humidity have been the same for a long time and this is a new issue doesn't mean the temps and the humidity are correct.

If you want proper advice you need to give all the relevant information.

Incomplete information = inaccurate advice.

This. Humidity or temp is off or she's going into shed again (not unheard of to have two sheds close together) or she has mites that you can't see. But without knowing your temps and humidity levels we can't really help you to narrow it down.

Re: BRB spending most time in water bowl - advice needed

I find it amusing how "mites" is always the first theory thrown down when a snake soaks. With rainbows, it's the least likely cause.

These animals *love* water. I have rainbows that will spend days in their water bowl...even when all else is fine.

They do so after eating, when in shed, when too warm, when they want humidity...or just for the hell of it.

Double check temps and humidity, just to be safe, but otherwise this is no cause for concern. :-)

Every time after feeding my female goes for a soak.. Plus the odd day or two when she feels like it...
