Feeding problems

Today I tried to feed my snake for the first time.. It went great in the beginning, it wasn't 20 seconds after he got put down there that he struck and started squeezing. After it had died, he let go of it for a little while then grabbed it again and started squeezing, and I felt like I was disturbing him so I left. I came back 5 minutes later and he was swallowing the last bit of it down; So I came back a few minutes after that to find the little crawler spit out out in the bin. Now he's ignoring it. What should I do?

Thanks for any help

EDIT: Right after I posted this I checked and he had swallowed it.. Haha I guess I should've just given him some time. Couldnt figure out how to delete the thread

Re: Feeding problems

Watch closely for any regurgitation over the next day or two. If it is having trouble eating, maybe the food item was too large? IDK without more information. In any case, glad the snake ate and lets hope no further complications.

Re: Feeding problems

I have a few questions, how long have you had the snake? Are you feeding in its cage or a separate enclosure?

Not at all, in fact the guy helping me (was knowledgeable) told me he could've eaten a bigger one but since it was the first go for me I should just go for a smaller

For a week to the day, and in a separate bin. It's been a couple weeks since he's eaten last

Re: Feeding problems

I would wait at least 2 weeks to feed it, and feeding in a separate enclosure just adds unecessary stress
